Homework:
1) If you’re mixing GA with other English accents, remember about your GA speech model. Imagine that you’re saying something the way they would say it. (eg Jennifer Aniston vs Emma Thompson)
2) Keep a balance between listening to American English and other varieties of English. Explore your options - is there something you enjoy listening to that is not American but you can find it in an American version? (eg. The Office)
3) Keeping it fun is key - don’t listen to something just because it’s American and the speakers have a GA accent. Find things you will truly enjoy listening to.
4) Take your practice up a notch - do something when you practice you haven’t done yet. Practice more frequently, record yourself and analyze your accent, or find a speaking partner who is a native speaker of GA.
